Our beautiful Victorian upstairs lounge is steeped in history. Rumour has it that Charlie Chaplin used to perform here as a young boy and seminal British jazz orchestra Loose Tubes formed right here in the late eighties.
Hard acts to follow, but join us on the last Monday of the month for free film screenings and a Q&A session with aspiring directors for our ‘Emerging Filmmakers’ evening.
Head on over on Tuesdays for the infamous Roebuck rollover quiz, hosted by the even more infamous quizmaster Magic Matt. Would you like to beat him? We would!
Love poetry and comedy? We’ve got you covered. On the first Thursday of every month we’re hosting ‘The House That Roared’, a night of hip-hop and spoken word in the sitting position, presented by the wicked Bang Said The Gun. We’re also hosting a hilarious evening of free comedy known as ‘The Borough of Comedy’ on the last Thursday of every month.
Aside from Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays, the Roebuck Lounge is used as an extension of the pub, hence providing a bit of extra space for those busy Friday and Saturday nights. With original wood flooring, an open fire and its own bar, this space exudes an atmosphere of comfort and character. Big tables for Sunday lunch? Or even just a quiet space to enjoy a good paper and a Bloody Mary? The Lounge has it.
